Activity:
When we visited the garden centre last week we also bought a bag of large, smooth, circular stones. We thought it would be a fun activity to let the children decorate them. They could either paint a picture, write their names or draw anything they wanted. We had some very colourful and imaginative creations and some of the children decided to go one step further and paint their hands (as you can see below). We talked about colours, shapes, patterns, weights and textures and some of the older children practiced writing their names on the stones.
Home Activity:
Create a treasure map using the stones as the treasure (or a suitable alternative). Write out some simple instructions on a piece of paper and see if your child can follow them to find the hidden treasure.
For example:
- Take 1 step backwards
- Do 3 hops to the left
- Crawl forwards while counting to 4
- Turn clockwise 2 times
- Walk 6 steps forwards
